AMSA at 60! Celebrating Passion, Professionalism and Pride
An Invitation From AMSA’s National President
I am thrilled to have the opportunity to invite you to AMSA’s 60th Annual Convention, “AMSA at 60! Celebrating Passion, Professionalism, Pride”. AMSA’s convention is your chance to network with peers and mentors from across the country who care about the very same issues as you—how to survive the rigors of medical training while learning about and advocating for social justice, affordable education, and health policy. Thursday’s opening ceremonies will kick off four days of one-of-a-kind workshops and educational sessions addressing a multitude of topics, including test preparation, global access to essential medicines, the principles of osteopathy, career roundtable discussions, and successful public health campaigns, among other topics. Friday marks the opening of the House of Delegates, where chapter delegates debate and decide AMSA’s policies and priorities. Convention will also feature four keynote speakers, interactive workshops, community service, a big birthday party, and an afternoon at Disneyland! Convention is also where we elect next year’s national membership and programming leaders—it’s never too early to think about how you want to be involved and make a difference in your professional association!
Sincerely,
Lauren Hughes, MD, MPH

The American Medical Student Association (AMSA), with a half-century history of medical student activism, is the oldest and largest independent association of physicians-in-training in the United States.
Today, AMSA is a student-governed, national organization committed to representing the concerns of physicians-in-training. With a membership of more than 62,000 medical students, premedical students, interns, residents and practicing physicians from across the country, AMSA continues its commitment to improving medical training and the nation's health.
How is AMSA different from other organizations? When you join AMSA, you become part of a vital force of future physicians who believe that patients and health professionals are partners in the management of health care and that access to high-quality health care is a right and not a privilege. At AMSA, activism is a way of life. Student idealism is transformed into meaningful public service, innovation and institutional change.
